We are very sorry to inform you that the Chair of the Scheme, Paul Trickett has recently passed away.
Paul was an independent trustee who joined the Scheme as Chair in November 2019, bringing with him extensive industry experience. During his career, he held a range of roles within investments and pensions including with, amongst others, the National Coal Board, Towers Watson, and Goldman Sachs Asset Management where he was responsible for the EMEA multi asset management team.
As well as chairing the NGUKPS, he was Chair of the Santander UK Group Pension Scheme and held non-exec. director roles with Thomas Miller and with Aviva Life Holdings where he also chaired the investment committee.
During his time with the NGUKPS, he successfully steered the Scheme through a number of buy-ins and periods of global economic uncertainty as well as overseeing enhancements to the Scheme’s management and governance. He was widely respected for his intelligence, insight and pragmatism.
Paul lived in Cumbria and loved the area. Outside of work he enjoyed walking and was a big fan of music. Our thoughts are with his wife and family.
For the time being, Appointed Trustee, Richard Allman, will act as interim Chair of the Scheme. Richard is the Head of Regulatory Finance Strategy for National Grid and has been a Trustee with the Board since 2020.
